Police Confirm Murder of UNIMED Registrar Ezekiel Aden

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of Mr. Ezekiel Imoleayo Adeniran, Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED).
Police Public Relations Officer, Olusola Ayanlade, revealed the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 17, and was reported at the Fanibi Division in Akure.
“I can confirm to you that the man was killed. From the information I have at my disposal, two men came out of the bush, and they forced a substance into another person’s mouth. Meanwhile, I cannot confirm to you that the substance was poisonous; an autopsy will do that,” Ayanlade said.
He stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department for a thorough investigation. The police urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to help identify those behind the act.
Meanwhile, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Isaac Oluyi, also confirmed the death, describing the incident as a shocking tragedy that has thrown the UNIMED community into mourning.
Oluyi said the late registrar was last seen at work on Monday, July 14, 2025, and the cause of death remains unknown.
Mr. Adeniran was appointed the third substantive Registrar of UNIMED on January 6, 2025, and served until his sudden death on July 17. His body has been deposited in a nearby hospital morgue.
