Police Arrest 11 Over Two Schoolboys’ Murder in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 11 students from Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, in connection with the suspected murder of two fellow students.
Two boys of Hamza Tofawa and Umar Dungurawa, who were allegedly attacked by their schoolmates with sharp local metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale” were gruesomely killed.
Following widespread outrage over the incident, the Kano State Commissioner of Education, Ali Makoda, on Wednesday, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
Providing an update on the investigation on Thursday, the spokesperson for the command, Abdullahi Haruna, said the 11 arrested students were currently undergoing interrogation.
“Eleven students were arrested over the incident, and an investigation is ongoing to find out the level of their involvement,” Haruna stated.
He assured the public that the Police would do everything possible to unravel the circumstances behind the killings of the students, adding that all those who are party to it would be prosecuted.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Director of the Kano State Senior Secondary School Management Board, Abbas Abdullahi, expressed sadness and called for restraint among students.
Stressing that the state government is determined to get to the bottom of the case, he urged students not to misuse their privileges and take the law into their own hands.
