The image, shared by content creator Lege Miami, was captioned: “Legendary movement @jayz With my Seyi mi.”
However, the timing of the post—on June 12, Nigeria’s Democracy Day—drew criticism from many Nigerians who felt it was tone-deaf.
Commentators questioned Seyi’s priorities amid the country’s mounting challenges, including inflation, fuel scarcity, insecurity, and rising unemployment. Some viewed the post as an example of elite detachment during a day meant to honor democratic struggles and sacrifices.
While a few defended the meeting as a potential networking milestone, the general sentiment online leaned toward disapproval, with many accusing the president’s son of being out of touch with the nation’s mood.
