Peter Obi Visits Family of Late Super Eagles Goalkeeper Peter Rufai to Condole

Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, paid a condolence visit to the family of Nigeria’s late football legend, Peter Rufai, at their Amuwo Odofin residence in Lagos on the morning following the goalkeeper’s burial.
Obi, accompanied by former international player Sylvanus Okpala, offered words of comfort, encouraged the family to stay strong, and prayed for Rufai’s soul. He spent about an hour with Peter Rufai’s younger brother, Bruce, his sisters Bosede and Dele, and other family members before signing the condolence book.
Bruce Rufai, who had traveled from Spain for the burial, expressed gratitude for Obi’s visit. “I’m here to say I’m very sorry about the passing of our great goalkeeper. I only learned about the burial date yesterday while I was in Abuja. I flew into Lagos this morning and came straight here. I would have attended the burial if I had known in time. Please be consoled. May his soul rest in peace,” Obi said.
The family expressed how much the visit meant to them. “We felt abandoned by the authorities. Your coming here is really consoling. It has lifted our spirits. Thanks so much. We are honoured by your presence here. Thank you, Your Excellency,” Bruce said.
Some family members were visibly excited and overwhelmed when they saw Peter Obi at the home of the late Dodo Mayana, Peter Rufai’s residence when he was alive.
