Peter Obi Threatens To Sue Deji Adeyanju Over Defamation Allegations Amid Ongoing Feud

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has threatened legal action against Nigerian lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju over alleged defamation, intensifying a row that began after Adeyanju sued Obi’s aide, Serah Ibrahim, for allegedly defaming his wife.
In a demand letter issued by Ejesimen & Co Madiba Chambers and obtained by Peoples Gazette, Obi’s legal team accused Adeyanju of repeatedly publishing false and damaging statements about him on social media, particularly on X. The letter cited Adeyanju’s past claim that Obi once tried to give him money as a “thank you for coming,” which Adeyanju described as an attempt to buy his loyalty. It also referenced an August 21 post in which Adeyanju alleged that Obi invested state funds in a company linked to his family while in office.
Adeyanju reacted dismissively on Wednesday night, mocking the legal threat in a Facebook post. “Just got this letter from Peter Obi, the religious bigot, demanding a retraction from me. I laughed so hard. I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah,” he wrote.
The activist further noted that he had earlier sued Ibrahim, accusing her of calling his wife an “OnlyFans hoe” and publishing offensive content after he criticised Obi online. “We served his little errand girl, Serah, a letter to retract all her defamatory publications on Monday against my wife, and she ran to the leader of the mob for help,” Adeyanju said. “Obi cannot save her, and I am ready for him in court 100%. Super happy he sent that letter. It proves what we have always suspected; he is the one sending them to defame people online because they are his aides.”
Ibrahim, however, denied calling Mrs Adeyanju a prostitute, insisting she merely mocked her for sharing suggestive photos online. “I only said she constantly posts pics of butt, the kind you’d typically see on OnlyFans wannabe,” she explained. “I didn’t say she’s a whore. But if he wants to call his wife a whore, who am I to disagree?”
Adeyanju, a vocal critic of Obi, has consistently dismissed the Labour Party leader’s presidential ambitions and frequently clashes with his supporters, known as Obidients.
Obi’s lawyers are demanding a public retraction and unreserved apology from Adeyanju, but the activist has vowed to meet the former governor in court.
