Peter Obi Condemns Anambra Killings, Demands Justice for 10 Murdered in Ogboji

Mr. Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, has strongly condemned the brutal murder of 10 individuals by unknown assailants in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In a statement posted via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, Obi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, calling it a grave injustice and a threat to the sanctity of human life.
“I am deeply saddened by the gruesome killing of 10 innocent citizens in Ogboji, Orumba South LGA of Anambra State,” Obi said, describing the attack as unprovoked and barbaric.
Obi stressed that such acts of violence must never be tolerated or normalized in a civil society, noting that every Nigerian has the right to live and move freely without fear.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.
“The freedom to live, move, and assemble peacefully anywhere in Nigeria is a fundamental right that must be protected. No individual or group should be allowed to operate above the law,” he stated.
Calling for urgent action, Obi urged the relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the killings and ensure that those behind the act are apprehended and brought to justice.
“Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done to restore public confidence and deter future violence,” he added.
The Labour Party stalwart’s reaction comes amid mounting calls from citizens and activists for greater accountability and safety in the southeastern region.
