PDP Urges Peter Obi To Return To Party Ahead Of Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has called on Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, to return to the PDP fold.

Obi left the PDP for the LP after feeling that his presidential ambitions could not be realized within the party.

The appeal was made following an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) held in Awka yesterday to assess the party’s situation and plan its future direction.

In a communique signed by Anambra PDP Chairman Chidi Chidebe, the party warned that alliances with ideologically incompatible groups, under the guise of coalitions, are unlikely to bring success.

“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former PDP members in Anambra, especially our esteemed former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to come home and reunite with the rejuvenated and restructured PDP.

“We warmly welcome our brothers and sisters to join us in the collective effort towards building a better Nigeria,” the statement read.

Chidebe also urged Anambra voters to back the PDP’s candidates, Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate Francis Okeke, in the upcoming election.

He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
