PDP Southwest Hails NEC for Choosing Ibadan as Host of November 2025 National Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest zone has expressed deep appreciation to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for selecting Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, as the host city for the November 2025 National Convention.
In a press statement signed by Engr. Kamoru Toyese Ajisafe, National Vice Chairman (Southwest), on behalf of the PDP Southwest Zonal Working Committee, the zone commended the NEC, the National Working Committee (NWC), the Board of Trustees (BoT), and the PDP Governors’ Forum for what it described as a unanimous and strategic decision.
“The leadership and teeming members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest Zone wish to express our profound appreciation… for unanimously choosing the Southwest zone and specifically, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital as host of the November 2025 National Convention of our great party,” the statement read.
According to the zonal leadership, the selection of Ibadan—widely regarded as the political nerve centre of the Southwest—is a testament to the region’s importance within the PDP and a show of confidence in its capacity to deliver on national assignments.
The statement assured party leaders and delegates across the country of a peaceful, well-organized, and impactful convention that would reflect the PDP’s commitment to democracy, unity, and excellence.
“We assure the national leadership of the PDP… that the Southwest is fully prepared and committed to organizing a seamless, peaceful, and highly impactful Convention in Ibadan in a manner that will reflect the true democratic spirit and organizational excellence that the PDP is known for,” Ajisafe stated.
The Southwest PDP also reaffirmed its loyalty to the party’s ideals and pledged to continue promoting unity, internal cohesion, and mobilization efforts toward electoral victory in future polls.
The statement concluded with renewed appreciation to the Acting National Chairman, His Excellency, Amb. Illiya Damagum, as well as other national stakeholders, for what the zone described as a “rare privilege” to host the party’s flagship event.
