The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently holding a late-night National Caucus meeting at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, which commenced at 9:00 p.m., is being presided over by the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum. In attendance are several prominent party figures, including Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau). Others present include former Kaduna Governor Ahmed Makarfi, PDP chieftain Chief Bode George, and key members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT).

Insider sources revealed that the zoning of the 2027 presidential ticket is one of the main agenda items. Discussions are also focusing on preparations for the upcoming national convention and growing concerns over internal security.

“The zoning of the presidential ticket is a sensitive matter that requires careful consideration,” a party source said.

There is also concern over recent defections to rival parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has led to renewed calls for internal reconciliation and party unity.

Security is another pressing topic, especially after the recent assassination attempt on Jude Ezenwafor, PDP’s governorship candidate in Anambra State.

“The safety of our members is paramount,” the source added.
