The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, has reiterated that former President Goodluck Jonathan remains a member of the party.

Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Ologunagba addressed speculation that Jonathan may emerge as the PDP’s presidential candidate in 2027. Jonathan has not confirmed or denied any interest in running for the election, but Ologunagba clarified that he has not resigned from the party.

“President Jonathan is still a member of this party because he has not resigned,” Ologunagba said.

He refused to comment on rumors about former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi returning to the PDP, stating: “Mr Peter Obi was a presidential candidate in the last election for another political party. He has not indicated interest in joining the party. So for me, it will be improper for me to begin to comment on that.”

Highlighting the PDP’s readiness for 2027, Ologunagba emphasized that the party boasts many competent leaders capable of steering the country. He cited Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as one of the party’s strong performers.

“What I can comment on is our capacity, even as we stand, that we have exceedingly qualified individuals. You mentioned Governor Makinde, of course, that’s one of our poster boys in this party in terms of performance, in terms of capacity, in terms of being able to galvanize Nigerians.

“So for us, we have in this party today various eminently qualified Nigerians and governors who are performing, and Nigeria can recognize that PDP states remain oasis of development centers in this country,” he said.
