Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan has dismissed speculation about a possible return to Aso Rock, making it clear she has no intention of seeking power again and will instead support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking after receiving the Women Icon Leader of the Year award, Patience Jonathan said she would not return to the presidential villa under any circumstance. “I’m not going back to the Villa. If you call me, I will not go,” she stated.

She emphasized that leadership is a matter of turn-taking: “There is only one president at a time… this is turn-by-turn. Today is my turn—I will go. Tomorrow, it will be another person’s turn.”

The former First Lady also pledged to campaign alongside Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as a longtime friend. “I stand by my friend. I told her I would campaign with her. I’m not running,” she added.
