Pastor Jerry Eze Says Ministry Is a Calling, Not a Career

Pastor Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International, has revealed that his passion for evangelism is driven by a divine calling, not personal ambition or financial gain.
Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, the popular preacher said he does not view his role as a profession but as a sacred assignment from God.
“I’m not a professional pastor,” he said. “The day I become a professional pastor, let God kill me. The day it ceases to be about God and becomes about Jerry, let God close down everything.”
Eze admitted he never expected to rise to such prominence, stressing that his focus remains on fulfilling God’s purpose rather than gaining recognition.
“I didn’t plan to be here. This isn’t something you plan—thinking you’ll be big and the world will know your name. I know what my assignment is. I know what God has called me to do, and it has consumed me,” he said.
He added that what keeps him going are the smiles and testimonies he receives from members of his congregation.
“I don’t care what anybody thinks or feels,” Eze said. “The encouragement comes when I see those smiles and hear those testimonies.”
