Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, has called on President Bola Tinubu to extend national recognition and monetary rewards to 17-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, who recently won a prestigious global English competition in the United Kingdom.

Pantami made the appeal via his verified X handle on Tuesday, urging the federal government to honour Nafisa with the same level of reward given to the Super Falcons and D’Tigress for their sporting achievements.

Nafisa, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Yobe State, outshone over 20,000 participants from 69 countries—including native English-speaking nations—to emerge winner of the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals.

“Nafisa deserves recognition: $100,000, a flat, and an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON),” Pantami wrote, praising her discipline, natural brilliance, and the support provided by her school and parents.

He added, “What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Nafisa and her English teacher deserve the same kind of reward.”

Pantami emphasized that her success is a testament to the potential of Nigerian students on the global stage and underscored the need for the country to place greater value on education as a tool for national development.
