Pakistani TV Reporter Swept Away By Floodwaters During Live Broadcast

A Pakistani TV reporter from GTV was swept away by raging floodwaters during a live broadcast while covering the severe monsoon flooding in Kot Chatta.
In a video shared by Al Arabiya English on Facebook, the reporter is seen standing in neck-deep water, holding a microphone and continuing his report as the current grows stronger. Moments later, he loses his footing and is violently dragged away by the surging flood. Only his head and hand remain visible before he disappears beneath the water.
The dramatic footage quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions online. While some praised his courage, others raised concerns over the lack of safety precautions during such dangerous field reporting.
Since June 26, relentless monsoon rains have battered Pakistan, causing deadly floods that have displaced thousands and destroyed homes, roads, and farmland. At least 116 people have died and over 250 others injured, according to official figures.
Fortunately, the reporter was later confirmed safe. However, the incident has reignited debate about media safety protocols and the growing threats posed by climate-driven extreme weather events in South Asia.
