Osun State Government Sets Up 100-Member Committee to Resolve Boundary Disputes

The Osun State Government has constituted a 100-member committee to resolve the ongoing land disputes among Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun communities. Remember that these communities have been at war for years.
The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Adetunji Olanipekun, will chair the committee, while Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe, a retired judge, will serve as co-chairman. Each of the affected communities will have 25 representatives.
The state government will also be represented by 25 members, ensuring fair representation. The committee aims to achieve a peaceful resolution through dialogue and mutual understanding among all stakeholders.
Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, disclosed the development in a press statement. He explained the government’s commitment to addressing the recurring boundary crises.
The committee includes prominent traditional rulers such as Oba Abioye Oyebode, the Olokuku of Okuku, and Oba Adams Iyiola Bamidele Yusuf, the Oloba of Oba Oke, among others.
Security agencies will also play a key role, with representatives from the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Amotekun Corps included.
Legal experts from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches across Osun State are part of the committee, contributing their expertise to resolving legal aspects of the dispute.
The committee also includes top government officials such as the Surveyor General, permanent secretaries from various ministries, and representatives of civil society organizations and the media.
Governor Adeleke urged committee members to bring their experience to bear in resolving the long-standing boundary issues. He expressed optimism that the committee will work diligently to achieve peace.
