Osun PDP Leadership Backs Adeleke Amid Defection Rumors, Vows to Follow Him to Any Party

Amid growing speculation that Governor Ademola Adeleke may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have pledged their unwavering support, vowing to follow him wherever he decides to go.
The commitment came after a high-level caucus meeting held on Saturday at the Government House in Osogbo. At the end of the session, the PDP leadership passed a vote of confidence in the governor and expressed full support for any decision he may make regarding his political future.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the caucus said, “Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party.”
The group praised Adeleke’s leadership and performance in office and urged him to continue consulting with stakeholders at both state and national levels before making a final decision.
The meeting brought together representatives from all wings of the party, including members of the National and State Assemblies, the State Executive Council, the party’s leadership, special advisers, elders caucus, and the Osun ALGON chapter.
Notable attendees included Governor Adeleke himself, Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, Hon. Bamidele Sallam, Hon. Clement Olohunwa, and Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro. Others present were former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, PDP South West Vice Chairman Engr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, Osun PDP Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi, House Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, SSG Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, and Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye.
While the governor is still said to be consulting, the rumoured defection has already stirred tension across party lines. The news has sparked anxiety among APC aspirants and intensified internal debates within the PDP.
Supporters from both parties have been trading jabs online, speculating about potential shifts in party leadership should Governor Adeleke make the move.
