Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared the story behind his memorable selfie with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo following a Serie A match in February 2021.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Osimhen revealed that it took more than an hour of waiting before he was finally able to meet Ronaldo after Napoli’s 1-0 victory over Juventus.

“I said to him, ‘Chris, I’d like to take a picture with you,’ and he replied, ‘Yeah, come to the dressing room,’” Osimhen recalled.

Upon arriving, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon intercepted him and asked what he wanted. After explaining, Buffon informed him that Ronaldo was in the gym and invited Osimhen to sit and wait.

“We were just talking for a while—almost 30 minutes—and Ronaldo still hadn’t come out. I ended up waiting for one hour. He was still working out,” Osimhen said.

He described Ronaldo’s physique with admiration, saying, “Look at the laps and the veins—you’d think he was 25 years old at the time.”

When the two finally met, Osimhen said Ronaldo offered words of encouragement: “He said, ‘Great game, just keep on going,’ and I shook his hand.”

Ronaldo, now 40, is nearing the end of his current contract with Al-Nassr but is expected to extend his stay with the Saudi club.
