One dies as rival cultists clash in Delta community

A young man has been killed at Enerhen Junction, the commercial nerve centre of Warri and its environs, as rival cult groups clashed.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening.
It was not clear if the deceased was a member of any cult group at the time of this report.
It was gathered that the clash between members of the Eiye and Vikings confraternities started in Marine Quarters, where a member of the Eiye Confraternity was said to have been attacked for making a pass at the girlfriend of a member of the Vikings at a party in the area.
In a retaliatory move, members of the Eiye entered into the town in search of Vikings and, in the process, caught the deceased, who was walking along the road being constructed by Julius Berger. They beat him with dangerous weapons until he died.
The whole incident caused tension in the area, as traders were forced to lock up their shops for fear of attack.
At the time of this report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, is yet to pick calls to confirm the report.
