Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Calls For Nollywood Reform Over Lack Of Residual Payments

Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is calling for urgent reform in the Nigerian film industry, highlighting the stark contrast between royalty structures in Nollywood and Hollywood.
With over 310 projects to her name, Omotola revealed that Nigerian actors still don’t receive residual payments for their work. In contrast, she continues to earn monthly residuals from just two Hollywood projects she participated in years ago.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Just 4 years in Hollywood, 2 test projects, monthly residuals. 30 years in Nollywood, 310+ projects, no residuals.”
Her post has reignited conversations about fair compensation and the need for Nollywood to implement a sustainable royalty system for actors.
