Oluremi Tinubu Donates ₦1bn To Plateau Crisis Victims, Urges End To Violence

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated ₦1 billion to victims of recent clashes in Plateau State, alongside food items and clothing, under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The donation was announced during her visit to the state on Wednesday, where she led the RHI team to show solidarity and support for affected communities. Her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, confirmed the visit and donation in an official statement.
Speaking emotionally during the event, Mrs. Tinubu urged community elders to pursue all efforts to restore and sustain peace across the state.
“I come in as a mother whose heart bleeds. I assure you, this is the last time I want to visit this state for this kind of intervention, and I pray God will honour this,” she said.
Quoting a little girl who welcomed her at the airport, she added, “Welcome to the land of peace and tourism. I pray it remains so. Do not give room to the serpent to enter the edge and assault you. Mend the broken edge. This is enough. Nigeria is a beautiful country.”
The First Lady also appealed to men in the state to protect women and children and allow them to continue their livelihoods, especially farming and trading. She called on the youth to embrace peace and unity for the country’s progress.
Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, expressed deep gratitude to the First Lady, assuring her that the funds would be transparently and effectively disbursed.
“I take full responsibility for the funds you have brought to us. I pledge that we will not hold back. We will disburse it to those for whom it is meant, and no elite will hijack it,” he stated.
He further promised that his administration would continue to promote peace and mend divisions within the state.
Also in attendance at the event were the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, traditional rulers, religious leaders, traders, youth representatives, and security officials.
