Old Video of Mmesoma’s Disputed JAMB Result Sparks Fresh Reactions Online

Amid the uproar over a recent error by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that led to thousands of students receiving unusually low scores, Nigerians have dug up old videos of Mmesoma Ejikeme—whose 2023 result controversy once made national headlines.
In 2023, Mmesoma claimed to have scored 362 in her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), a score she said she printed directly from the JAMB portal. The video, which has now resurfaced, shows her presenting that result as evidence.
However, following an investigation, Mmesoma later admitted to altering her score from 249 to 362, reportedly after intense questioning by JAMB officials. The board subsequently accused her of forgery, and the matter drew widespread public attention and debate.
Fast forward to 2025, JAMB recently announced that over 1.5 million students had scored below 200 in this year’s UTME—a result that triggered suspicion across the country. Numerous students, including former high performers, reported receiving unexpectedly low scores.
Further investigations revealed a technical error that allegedly affected candidates in Lagos and several South-eastern states. As outrage grew, netizens began to question JAMB’s credibility and revisited Mmesoma’s case, suggesting that her result might have been genuine after all.
One user, @dangbanamanager, wrote:
“So, it’s possible they tampered with this girl’s result from the back end? JAMB has proven time and again that it can’t be trusted with something as critical as an exam that determines the future of thousands. A child has already taken their own life because of this.”
Other reactions poured in:
- @doziecuit: “This girl’s result was tampered with, I said it then, and I stand by it till this day. That girl was innocent, but she couldn’t do much because of how we’ve been conditioned as a people.”
- @AdekunleOderind: “When the integrity of the examination body is questioned, we face a deeper crisis. Were past failures truly academic, or the result of system glitches? Who reviews those cases?”
- @godknowsme: “If this girl admitted under duress, JAMB owes her an apology.”
- @TheOlizhe: “This was clearly forgery. She was showing a 2021 result format in 2023. But that doesn’t excuse JAMB’s incompetence this year. Both things can be true—Mmesoma forged her result, and JAMB failed thousands this year.”
