Officials Charges Corps Members To Uphold NYSC Image as Ambassadors

The Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit, NYSC Lagos, Mrs. Omolola Aladesoun, has reminded corps members that they are ambassadors of the National Youth Service Corps and must carry themselves with dignity and professionalism at all times.
Addressing the 2025 Batch A Stream II corps members at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp during a lecture on Public Relations, Mrs. Aladesoun emphasized that their behaviour in public, at their places of primary assignment, and even in private spaces reflects directly on the image of the NYSC.

She outlined the responsibilities of the Public Relations Unit, including the publication of Eko Magazine, management of identity cards and meal tickets, handling of official protocols, and preparation of official speeches. She noted that corps members, as representatives of the scheme, are expected to adhere strictly to the NYSC dress code, particularly the complete 6/7 khaki outfit, as part of their professional outlook.
Aladesoun also introduced two special Community Development Service (CDS) groups under the PR Unit: the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) group and the Publicity Editorial group. She encouraged interested corps members, especially those with writing skills, to contribute articles to the unit for possible publication.
Corps members were further advised to follow proper communication channels by routing all inquiries and complaints through their Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) and to avoid engaging directly with the press.
