NYSC Warns Lagos Corps Members Against Paying for Posting, Reposting

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos has cautioned corps members against making payments for postings or repostings, emphasizing that both processes are entirely free.
This was made clear during a sensitization session addressed by Mrs. Modupe Adesoji, representative of the Head of Deployment and Relocation Branch of the NYSC Lagos Secretariat. She noted that any corps member rejected by their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) must immediately report the rejection to their Local Government Inspector (LGI) for reposting.
“Both posting and reposting are free,” she stated firmly, warning corps members not to fall for extortion or approach unauthorized persons for assistance.

Mrs. Adesoji also outlined the Branch’s roles, which include deployment, screening, and posting of corps members. She expressed concern over corps members’ lack of attention to instructions during the screening process, describing it as a “no-read” habit that often leads to avoidable issues.
On relocation, she explained that applications based on genuine health or family concerns would be accepted from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 6 via the NYSC portal. Required documents must be uploaded, and those who miss the window will have to wait three months post-camp to reapply.
She further assured corps members that initial postings are carried out based on their course of study and address, and that the unit is also responsible for issuing the Certificate of National Service at the end of the service year.
