NYSC: Make Your Service Year Productive Through Professional Training -ISPON

The Coordinator of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), Mrs Eke Kate has advised corps members of the Batch “C” Stream I at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja on the need to undergo professional training on safety measures during their service year.
While speaking on the objectives of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria(ISPON), Mrs Eke explained that corps members will be able to ensure the protection and safety of lives of their fellow corps members and properties in their primary places of assignments with the knowledge gained from ISPON, adding that Safety is key in every office.
Mrs. Eke challenged the Corps members to gain the know-how of protecting equipment in order to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Organizations. noting that organizations would demand safety knowledge in their workers.
She called on the Corps members to subscribe to train officially with the institute as it will be a crime to announce oneself as a Safety vanguard without the official training.
She emphasized that graduates of Engineering and sciences background require the knowledge due to the nature of their jobs.
She lauded members of the Safety and Risk Reduction Committee led by Mrs Ufochukwu at the NYSC Orientation camp for their contribution to the safety of every corps member and official in the Camp.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of ISPON, and the Head of Safety protocol on visit to the State Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa at the Orientation Camp, emphasized the need for the adherence to safety protocols at the workplace.
She urged the State Coordinator to propagate the message to the corps members, underlining the numerous advantages and opportunities in being a certified safety officer.
She also commended the State Coordinator for the institution of the Safety protocol adherence vanguards in camp, which is a good step in the right direction.
