NYSC Lagos Ignites Sports Fever With Action-Packed Inter-Platoon Games

Excitement swept through the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, as corps members kicked off the much-anticipated inter-platoon games with electrifying matches and vibrant team spirit.
The sporting event officially began with a ceremonial serve performed by the Camp Director, Mrs. Itoha Ehimwema, who stood in for the State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, to declare the games open.
Day one of the competition featured intense matchups between Platoon 8 and Platoon 4 in volleyball, table tennis, and badminton — setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling contest.
In the female volleyball showdown, Platoon 8 clinched a solid 2-0 victory, narrowly edging out Platoon 4 in the first set 25-23 before dominating the second 25-15. Table tennis saw mixed results — Platoon 4 claimed a 2-1 win in the male category, while Platoon 8 responded with a sweeping 4-0 victory in the female category. The mixed doubles badminton match ended in Platoon 4’s favour, winning 2-0 with scores of 21-9 and 21-18.
Commending the success of the event, the Camp Director praised the Head of Sports, Mrs. Yewande Abimbola, for her efforts in coordinating the tournament. She also urged corps members to enjoy the games responsibly. “Prioritize safety while showcasing your talents,” she advised.
With more matches ahead, the inter-platoon games are already delivering a thrilling blend of athleticism, teamwork, and friendly rivalry among the corps members.
