NYSC Lagos Holds Cultural Carnival to Celebrate Unity in Diversity

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State on Friday hosted a vibrant cultural carnival at its Iyana Ipaja Orientation Camp, bringing together corps members of the 2025 Batch B Stream I to celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity and promote national unity.

All ten platoons showcased traditional dances, native attire, and indigenous cuisines reflecting different ethnic groups across the country. The colourful displays drew cheers as each platoon highlighted unique aspects of Nigerian culture.

Platoon 3 emerged overall winner with its energetic presentation of the Dampe dance from Taraba State, earning a cash prize of ₦150,000. Platoon 6 came second with its performance of the Eyo dance from Lagos State, winning ₦70,000, while Platoon 4 took third place with its Kalabari cultural display from Rivers State, receiving ₦50,000.

Addressing the corps members, NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Christiana Salmwang, commended their creativity and commitment to cultural awareness. She encouraged them to uphold the values of unity and mutual respect even after leaving camp.

The carnival was supported by corporate sponsors including Leadway Pensure, Nestlé Golden Morn, and Guinness Nigeria.
