NYSC Lagos Flags Off Lecture Series, Officer Iloh Emphasizes Security Awareness

The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has declared open the 2025 Batch B Stream I lecture series at the Iyana Ipaja Orientation Camp, with a call on corps members to approach the sessions with commitment and seriousness.
The lecture series, a core part of the orientation programme, aims to promote civic responsibility, intellectual engagement, and national consciousness among corps members. Mrs. Salmwang, while inaugurating the sessions on Saturday, emphasized their importance in preparing participants for life beyond the camp and fostering the values necessary for nation-building.
Kicking off the lecture series, Officer Iloh Benjamin delivered the opening talk on security, urging corps members to prioritize their safety and that of others throughout the service year. He reminded them that security is a collective responsibility and not exclusive to security agencies, warning against complacency and emphasizing vigilance.

Officer Iloh cautioned against any security practices influenced by ethnic or religious bias, stressing that every life and property must be valued equally. He identified key security threats such as terrorism, armed robbery, political thuggery, cybercrime, and electoral violence, advising corps members to steer clear of any conduct that could implicate them in criminal or unethical activities.
He further urged them to resist peer pressure, internet fraud, and online harassment, warning that the consequences could derail their future ambitions.
