NYSC Lagos Celebrates Nigeria’s Rich Cultural heritage With Carnival

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos State on Saturday hosted a spectacular cultural carnival at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, showcasing the country’s diverse cultural landscape.
The event marking the 2025 Batch A Stream 1 orientation Cultural exercise brought together corps members from various ethnic backgrounds, each proudly representing their unique cultural heritage through traditional dances, stunning costumes, and delicious local cuisines.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, the State Coordinator, commended the corps members for their creativity and enthusiasm, emphasizing that the carnival’s primary objective is to promote love, unity, and cultural appreciation among young Nigerians.




























Mrs. Salmwang noted that the event serves as a platform for corps members to share and appreciate the rich cultural diversity that exists within Nigeria.
The carnival featured a vibrant display of Nigeria’s cultural diversity, with each platoon showcasing their distinct ethnic group’s traditions and customs.
A panel of judges evaluated the performances based on criteria such as coordination, synchronization, costume authenticity, cultural representation, food display, and time management.
After a keenly contested competition, Platoon 5, representing the Eyo cultural group from Lagos, emerged as the overall winner, impressing the judges with their flawless performance.
Platoon 1, representing the Atilogwu cultural group from Enugu, followed closely in second place, showcasing the vibrant culture of the South-East region.
