NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Serve with Humility and Integrity

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, has charged the 2025 Batch “B” Stream I corps members to uphold values of humility, sincerity, and integrity as they prepare to begin their primary assignments across the country.
Speaking during a debriefing session on the final evening of the 21-day orientation course, Brigadier General Nafiu highlighted the transformative nature of the NYSC experience, which brings together young Nigerians from diverse cultural backgrounds and pushes them beyond their comfort zones.

“The NYSC is more than just a year of service — it’s an opportunity to impact lives and promote national unity,” the DG stated. He also expressed appreciation to the sponsors and partners of the orientation course and encouraged corps members to face their new roles with confidence and a sense of purpose.
Emphasizing the importance of character, the DG reminded corps members that their true impact would be seen in the lives they touch rather than their social media visibility. He warned against negative influences, advised responsible use of social media, and underscored the importance of personal safety.

Additionally, he encouraged the young graduates to invest in skill acquisition and manage their allowances prudently. “Discipline, integrity, and attentive listening will be your greatest tools in the field,” he noted.
Brigadier General Nafiu concluded his address with best wishes and prayers for the success of the corps members in their various places of assignment.
