NYSC Cultural Carnival: Lagos Leads Southwest with Celeb-Studded Event

Renowned Nigerian TV producer and Afroentertainer, Bunmi Davies, along with social media health advocate and influencer, Aproko Doctor, graced the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja for the 2024 Batch “A” Stream II Orientation Course Cultural Carnival.
As special guests, the celebrities engaged with corps members, with Bunmi Davies generously providing cash gifts while Aproko Doctor raised awareness about stress and sleep paralysis.
Sponsored by Dkt International, the Cultural Carnival featured captivating cultural representations from all camp platoons, adding to the festive atmosphere.
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, the State Coordinator of NYSC Lagos, encouraged corps members to embrace and proudly display their cultural heritage wherever they go.
The carnival, serving as both a celebration of Nigeria’s diverse cultures and a competition among platoons, saw Platoon 5 securing victory with their representation of Seki-Okrika culture, followed by Platoon 7 with the Ogene dance, and Platoon 2 with an Eyo cultural display.
OYO STATE
In Oyo State, NYSC State Coordinator, Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, highlighted the importance of Nigeria’s cultural richness in fostering unity and peace.

The inter-platoon cultural carnival at the Permanent Orientation camp in Iseyin showcased a variety of cultures, with the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, emphasizing the need for cultural appreciation and unity among corps members.
Platoon 6, representing Igbo culture, clinched the top spot, followed by Platoon 7 with Nupe culture and Platoon 10 with Hausa culture.
OGUN STATE
In Ogun State, the Cultural Carnival at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, sponsored by NOMBA Micro Finance Bank and MEGA THANDY LOUNGE, highlighted the vibrancy of Nigeria’s cultural mosaic. Platoon 9’s portrayal of Lagos (Eyo) culture earned them the top prize, followed by Platoon 5 with Igba culture, and Platoon 1 with Yoruba culture.
The event provided a platform for corps members to appreciate and celebrate Nigeria’s diversity, strengthening bonds among them.
OSUN STATE
Meanwhile, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State, Corps Members showcased a kaleidoscope of cultures, promoting national integration and unity.
Platoon 7 emerged victorious with their representation of various cultures, followed by Platoon 9 and Platoon 8.
State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, applauded the Corps Members for showcasing multiple cultures within the regimented camp environment. He lauded their creativity and commitment to all camp activities urging them to keep up the good work.
Agbor emphasized the significance of the carnival in promoting national integration and unity, highlighting its role as a platform for Corps Members to celebrate and share their cultural heritage. He enjoined the Corps Members to learn to appreciate and respect every culture as no culture is superior to another.
ONDO STATE
In Ondo State, the Cultural Carnival at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko underscored the significance of promoting indigenous cultures.
State Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, urged corps members to embrace and celebrate their cultural heritage, emphasizing its uniqueness and value. Platoon 5 secured the top position with Igbo culture, followed by Platoon 8 with Izon culture, and Platoon 3 with Edo culture.
Across different states, the NYSC Cultural Carnivals celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, fostering unity and appreciation among corps members.
