NYSC Clears Air on Queries to 200 Corps Members, Denies Link to Christmas Carol

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has clarified the reason for querying over 200 corps members in Atiba Local Government, Oyo State.
The scheme denied claims that the action was due to their failure to attend a Christmas Carol.
In a statement, released by the scheme’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu explained that the affected corps members were absent during their scheduled Community Development Service (CDS) activities and the December 2024 headcount meant to verify their presence in the area.
Additionally, the corps members were not at their Primary Assignment locations during the period in question and failed to obtain permission to travel outside Oyo State between December 16, 2024, and January 6, 2025.
The NYSC claimed that the queries were issued as part of a corrective actions outlined in the scheme’s Bye-Laws. The action, it said, was unrelated to any religious activity, including the Christmas Carol.
