NNPCL Reduces Petrol Price To ₦900 Just 48 Hours After Hike

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, just 48 hours after it was increased across its retail stations.
As reported by Daily Post, the new pump price was observed on Wednesday morning, with several NNPCL outlets in Abuja—specifically in Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 6, and Wuse Zone 4—now selling petrol at ₦900 per litre, down from the previous ₦955.
An attendant at one of the outlets in Abuja, speaking anonymously, confirmed the change: “On Tuesday, we sold fuel at ₦955 per litre, but it is now ₦900.”
This marks a ₦55 per litre drop after the price was initially increased on Monday.
Meanwhile, private retailers have also made slight adjustments. Ranoil and Empire Energy stations in Gwarimpa have dropped their prices to ₦955 and ₦950 per litre, respectively, from the earlier ₦971 and ₦970.
However, MRS filling stations in Abuja have maintained their pump price at ₦885, as confirmed by a station manager.
The recent price fluctuations have been attributed to an increase in ex-depot prices from Dangote Refinery and other private depots, which affected market supply and pricing dynamics earlier in the week.
