Nigerian Navy Officer and Two Others Abducted by Gunmen

A Nigerian Navy officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, Lt. Cynthia Akor, along with two others, has been abducted by gunmen in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on the night of Friday, March 21, 2025.
According to a source who requested to remain anonymous for security reasons, the victims were taken from their residence in the early hours of Friday night. The kidnappers have since made contact with the families of the hostages, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
The source confirmed that among the kidnapped victims is Lt. Akor, a personnel of the Defence Headquarters. Efforts to reach the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, for further comment were unsuccessful as they did not respond to messages at the time of reporting.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, was also contacted regarding the abduction. She stated that she would confirm the incident and provide more details, but had yet to revert as of the time this report was filed.
This kidnapping incident adds to the growing concerns over security in the nation’s capital, with previous reports of similar abductions in the area. Authorities have not yet provided further updates on efforts to secure the release of the victims.
