NAPTIP Summons Speed Darlington Over Alleged Confession of Sexual Activity with 15-Year-Old in Viral Video

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has issued a summons to singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, following a viral video where he allegedly admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
In an official letter, NAPTIP expressed alarm over the video and other resurfaced clips, describing their content as troubling and potentially criminal. The agency noted that the statements could breach the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The letter stated:
“We hereby request your presence at NAPTIP regarding video content circulating online, including an Instagram video where you allegedly confessed to sexual acts with a minor. Other archived videos also contain concerning admissions and derogatory remarks about minors.”
Okoye is required to appear at NAPTIP Headquarters, 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., with any legal counsel or relevant documents. NAPTIP stressed that his cooperation is critical for a thorough investigation and warned that non-compliance could result in further legal consequences.
The case was referred to NAPTIP by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) after the video raised concerns, citing jurisdictional reasons.
