NANS President Atiku Isah Arraigned In Abuja Over Public Disturbance, Impersonation Charges

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Zone 6, Abuja.
The Department of State Services (DSS) brought him before the court on Tuesday.
Isah, dressed in all black, faced charges of inciting public disturbance and impersonating a public officer. The charges follow weeks of unrest linked to a leadership crisis within NANS.
His arraignment comes after reports surfaced that he was assaulted by a rival faction of the student body, which he and his legal team allege is being supported by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
Marshal Abubakar of Falana & Falana Chambers, who is representing Isah, told SaharaReporters that his client is being accused of disrupting public peace and misrepresenting himself.
“The DSS charged Atiku Isah with inciting students to breach the peace at a lawful student assembly and disrupting a meeting of individuals they claimed were the ‘elected’ leadership of NANS,” Abubakar said.
He also noted that Isah was accused of falsely parading himself as NANS president, despite ongoing disputes over the association’s legitimate leadership.
The court granted Isah bail in the sum of ₦5 million with one surety in the same amount. The surety must be a resident of the Federal Capital Territory, but no other conditions were attached.
