Namadi Sambo Denies Defection To APC, Reaffirms Loyalty To PDP

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo has denied claims that he has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reports of his alleged defection spread on Wednesday, triggered by a photo showing Sambo alongside Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani. However, Sambo’s media adviser, Umar Sani, issued a statement on Thursday refuting the story and clarifying that the image in circulation was taken years ago.
Sani explained that the photo was from a condolence visit by Governor Sani to Sambo’s Abuja residence following the death of his brother, the late Sani Sambo, and is now being misused to push a false narrative.
“The story is entirely baseless and misleading,” the statement said. “His Excellency remains a committed member of the PDP and has no plans to defect to any other party.”
Sambo is also scheduled to attend the commissioning of a 300-bed hospital in Kaduna on June 19, a project he initiated during his time in office. His camp stressed that the invitation to the event should not be misconstrued as a political alignment or a sign of defection.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo remains loyal to the PDP. The defection story is a complete fabrication, aimed at causing confusion and scoring cheap political points,” the statement concluded.
