Naija News Today Publisher Hails Sowore at 55

The Publisher of Naija News Today, Alefia Friday James, has congratulated activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, on his 55th birthday.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, James prayed for the realization of the Nigeria Sowore has long advocated for, particularly with regard to press freedom and democratic values.

“Happy birthday, Omoyele Sowore! May this birthday bring the Nigeria you dream for — Nigeria where freedom of the press is in practice, not on paper. God bless you sir,” he wrote.

Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement, turned 55 on Monday.

James said the call for press freedom “in practice, not on paper” reflects the need for stronger protection of journalists and full enforcement of constitutional guarantees for media independence in the country.
