The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced plans to launch a digital platform that will make it easier for intending pilgrims to manage their Hajj Savings Scheme.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the commission’s Information Officer, Malam Kabir Muhammad, said the initiative is being developed in partnership with the Alternative Bank to give prospective pilgrims direct access to their savings accounts using smartphones, tablets, or computers.

He explained that the move is designed to simplify enrolment and expand the reach of the scheme across the country. According to him, officials of the Hajj Savings Scheme recently held a session with a delegation from the Alternative Bank in Abuja to fine-tune the design and roll-out of the platform. The meeting was led by the Head of the Hajj Savings Scheme, Mr. Abdulmumin Aliyu, and Information Technology expert, Rabiat Akinwale, who represented the Alternative Bank, alongside senior staff from both sides.

Speaking on the development, Aliyu described the project as “a major step forward in modernising the Hajj planning process, making it easier for prospective pilgrims to save toward their spiritual journey.”

He explained: “The website will give intending pilgrims full control over their savings accounts, whether on their smartphones or other devices and also integrate services at the Alternative Bank’s branches nationwide. The platform will provide real-time information, eliminate paperwork and reduce delays in account management once the applicant creates his/her profile with BVN, NIN, Phone number and Email address.”
