Mohbad: Court Remands TikToker Saheed Osama For Allegedly Defaming Widow Wunmi

Justice Ibrahim Kala of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of TikToker Saheed Osama and Uyime Udoekwere at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre over alleged libellous statements against Omowunmi Aloba, wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The duo was arraigned before the court by the Lagos State Police Command on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation. The case was brought by the ‘Delta Attack’ team of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.
Police prosecutor Anthony Iyeye told the court that the defendants, along with others still at large, committed the alleged offences between July 4 and 5, 2025. According to him, they used electronic platforms to circulate false information aimed at tarnishing Mrs. Aloba’s image.
Iyeye said the accused persons carried placards that read, “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi”—which he described as a deliberate attempt to damage her character.
The offences, he added, violated Sections 27 (1)(b)(2) and 24 (1)(a)(b)(2) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Osama and Udoekwere, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following their plea, the prosecutor urged the court to fix a trial date and sought their remand pending conclusion of the case.
The defence counsel, Ademola Olabiyi, applied orally for bail, citing Section 32(3)(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), 2015, and explaining that a formal bail application could not be filed due to the charges being served that same day.
However, Justice Kala declined the oral request and instructed the defence to file a proper bail application, adding that it should be directed to the vacation judges as the court had entered its annual recess.
The judge then adjourned the case to September 25 for trial.
One of the charges reads: “That you, Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, along with others still at large, did intentionally harm the character and reputation of Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, by carrying placards with the inscription, ‘WUNMI KILLED MOHBAD! PERIOD! E NO GO BETTER FOR WUNMI,’ which you knew to be false, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 24 (1)(a)(b)(2) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.”
