The initiative, also known as the National Peer Group Educator Program, is aimed at training Corps members on various aspects of financial literacy.
Mr. Saheed Oladosu, representing the Ministry, sensitized the Corps members on the four-day program. He enumerated the course content as, saving culture, financial management, needs versus wants, financial regulations and fraud prevention.
He stated that the Ministry partnered with several organizations on this initiative, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), National Pension Commission (PenCom), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the German organization (GIZ).
He informed the Corps members that those who are able to complete the program will receive verifiable certificates from the CBN. Oladosu explained further that the goal of the initiative is to equip NYSC Corps members with the right financial skills and contribute to the overall economic development of Nigeria.
