May Edochie Opens Up on Losing Businesses and Battling Debt After Yul Edochie Scandal

May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has revealed how the breakdown of her marriage plunged her into severe financial hardship and led to the collapse of her businesses.
Speaking during the launch of her beauty brand in London, May recounted how she took out loans from three different banks to support her ventures, only to watch everything fall apart in the wake of personal turmoil.
According to her, the collapse left her with massive debts and a store full of expired goods.
“It was barely a few months when all the unprecedented occurrences came my way. I sat and watched everything go down the drain, and it came at a time I had to repay three banks,” she said.
“The banks had been helping me really good, but unfortunately, everything happened at the same time and I lost everything. While so much was going on social media, I was battling other things a lot of people don’t know about. Interest was piling. I had lost all my businesses, goods expired in my stores—everything went down.”
Despite the setbacks, May said she refused to give up or rely on others for survival.
“But because I believe in myself and I know what I am made of, I said no—I am not going to be at the mercy of anyone.”
May’s marriage to Yul Edochie unraveled in 2022 after he controversially took actress Judy Austin as a second wife, sparking widespread backlash and a prolonged public rift.
