Man U sign Danish defender Patrick Dorgu for £25m

Manchester United have completed the signing of Danish defender Patrick Dorgu from Lecce for a reported initial fee of £25 million ($37 million).
The 20-year-old arrives as the club’s first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim, addressing a lack of options on the left side.Dorgu has impressed in Serie A over the past two seasons, scoring five goals in 53 appearances.
He has also earned four international caps for Denmark.“I am incredibly proud to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family,” Dorgu said in a club statement. “I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim.
His vision for this team and the club’s future is incredibly exciting.
There is a clear plan for my development, and I believe Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my ambitions.”Despite financial constraints due to profit and sustainability rules, United have moved to strengthen Amorim’s squad.
The club’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, expressed confidence in Dorgu’s ability to thrive in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.“Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability, and work rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad,” said Wilcox.
“At just 20, we know he will continue to develop under our excellent coaching team.”
Meanwhile, United are working on player departures before the transfer window closes on Monday. Marcus Rashford is close to a loan move to Aston Villa, which would free up a significant portion of his £300,000-a-week wages.
Alejandro Garnacho has been linked with Napoli, but a move before the deadline appears unlikely.
