Man ridicules attendees of Verydarkman’s welcome party

Upcoming Nollywood actor Emeka Nwagbarocha has sparked controversy after criticising the organisers and attendees of a lavish welcome party held in Abuja for social media activist VeryDarkMan, following his release from EFCC custody.
VeryDarkMan, known for his vocal criticisms of corruption and societal injustice, was released after spending five days in EFCC custody; an arrest that prompted a protest at the anti-graft agency’s Abuja headquarters by his supporters.
However, it was the celebratory mood and fanfare surrounding his return that drew the ire of Nwagbarocha, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disapproval.
In a post that has since gone viral with over 7,000 engagements, the actor wrote:
“We have a lot of foolish people per square meter in this country.”
His blunt remark stirred intense debate online, with many users pushing back at the actor’s stance, defending the celebration as an act of solidarity with a man they see as a “voice of the poor.”
Reactions trailing Emeka’s criticism of Verydarkman’s welcome party
MarquizDejavex said: “For celebrating their helper? It’s okay when they celebrate useless celebrities but they can’t celebrate the voice of the poor.”
balogun19_sarah wrote: “A lot of people don’t have father figures. They see him as their dad, you can’t blame them.”
ogbame_justus argued: “You’re one of them, and in this instance you’re a champion of it, because welcoming back someone they hold in high regard is not a problem. Even if it was thieves welcoming back their thieving colleague, allow people practice democracy my brother.”
OGNAZti defended the gesture: “It’s not foolish to welcome a freedom fighter. Though I no rate am, but this is the only person that fights for the poor and voiceless in this land! A welcome party is the least people can do for a person who’s chesting about 40+ lawsuits unto fighting for the poor!”
