Man Arrested With ₦25.9m For Alleged Vote-Buying Ahead Of Kaduna Bye-Elections

Security operatives in Kaduna State have arrested a man allegedly attempting to buy votes with a large sum of cash ahead of today’s bye-elections.
The suspect, identified as Shehu Patangi, was apprehended early Saturday morning at a hotel along Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis, Police spokesman DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed.
Patangi is accused of coordinating the distribution of money to influence voters in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election. Officers reportedly recovered ₦25.9 million in cash from him, believed to have been intended for vote-buying.

During questioning, Patangi admitted to the offence and reportedly pleaded for mercy.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, praised security agencies for their collaborative efforts in making the arrest. He warned that anyone caught attempting to compromise the electoral process, regardless of their position, would face the full weight of the law.
Muhammad also assured residents that robust security measures are in place before, during, and after the elections, encouraging them to vote peacefully without fear or intimidation.
