Makurdi Women Protest Rising Insecurity In Agan Community

Women from the Agan community in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, staged a peaceful protest on Friday over the growing insecurity in their area.
The demonstrators, mostly women, took to the federal highway near the Agan toll gate, blocking traffic as they marched with leaves in their hands and chanted protest songs to express their frustration with the worsening security situation.
A resident, Torkwase, confirmed the development during a phone interview with Daily Post, noting that the protest was still ongoing as of Friday afternoon.
“The protest is currently happening at Agan ward, close to the toll gate,” she said. “It’s about the insecurity we’re facing in the area. We are tired. We need the government to act fast.”
She also noted that security personnel had arrived at the protest scene, and the situation remained peaceful.
The demonstration follows a series of attacks and violent incidents in the area, leaving residents fearful and demanding urgent government intervention.
