Liverpool Star Diogo Jota Dies in Tragic Car Crash Alongside Brother in Spain

Portuguese football star Diogo Jota has tragically died in a car accident in Spain. The 28-year-old Liverpool forward was killed alongside his younger brother, André Silva, when their Lamborghini crashed and caught fire in Zamora, northwestern Spain, on Wednesday, July 3, 2025.
According to Spanish authorities, the vehicle veered off the road, flipped over, and burst into flames. A blown tire is suspected to have caused the fatal crash.
Jota had recently celebrated his wedding and was on holiday with his family. He leaves behind a wife and three young children. His brother André, 25, was also a professional footballer who played for Penafiel in Portugal.
The news has sent shockwaves through the football community. Liverpool FC, the Portuguese Football Federation, former teammates, and global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo have all paid tribute. Fans have gathered at Anfield to lay flowers, jerseys, and messages, while clubs across Europe have lowered their flags and observed moments of silence in his memory.
Jota was a key player for both club and country, known for his passion, versatility, and goal-scoring ability. His sudden death marks a heartbreaking loss for football and for everyone who knew him.
