Liverpool Complete Signing of Sweden Striker Alexander Isak as New No.9

Alexander Isak has joined Premier League champions Liverpool as their new No.9, signing a long-term contract on deadline day after passing his medical.
Soon after completing his move at the AXA Training Centre, the 25-year-old striker told Liverpoolfc.com: “I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”
The Sweden international made his mark as one of the Premier League’s top forwards during three seasons with Newcastle. Since joining from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022, Isak scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for the Magpies, including 54 in 86 league games. He netted 23 goals last season alone, finishing second to Mohamed Salah in the Golden Boot race.
Now teammates with Salah at Anfield, Isak is focused on winning trophies. “I think I have a lot to give, I think I have a lot to improve. I’m a striker but I always want to give as much as possible to the team, mainly goals but much more than that as well. I want to win everything. Yeah, [as simple as that],” he added.
Isak began his career at AIK in Sweden before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2017. After a successful loan at Willem II, he joined Real Sociedad in 2019, finishing as the club’s top scorer as they lifted the 2019-20 Copa del Rey.
He has earned 52 caps for Sweden, scoring 16 times.
