Linda Yaccarino Resigns as CEO of Elon Musk’s X

Linda Yaccarino has announced her resignation as Chief Executive Officer of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
She made the announcement in a post on the platform on Wednesday, bringing her two-year tenure to an end.
“After two incredible years, Iβve decided to step down as CEO of π,” Yaccarino wrote.
Her decision comes shortly after X was acquired by Elon Muskβs artificial intelligence company, xAI. While she did not give a specific reason for stepping down, Yaccarino said the company was entering “a new chapter.”
“When Elon Musk and I first spoke of his vision for X, I knew it would be the opportunity of a lifetime to carry out the extraordinary mission of this company,” she said. “Iβm immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”
She praised the team at X for what she described as a historic business turnaround, noting progress made in restoring advertiser confidence and improving user safety.
“Iβm incredibly proud of the X team,” she said. “We started with the critical early work necessary to prioritise the safety of our users, especially children, and to restore advertiser confidence.”
Yaccarino also mentioned innovations like Community Notes and the upcoming X Money, adding that the platform had evolved into “a digital town square for all voices and the worldβs most powerful culture signal.”
Musk appointed Yaccarino as CEO in May 2023, shortly after his $44 billion takeover of Twitter. She officially took over in June 2023, succeeding Musk, who had been serving as interim CEO. Before joining X, Yaccarino was an advertising executive at NBCUniversal.
