LGA Chair seeks more allocation to ensure development

The Federal Government has been urged to increase allocation for Local Government Areas (LGAs) to enable them to implement the proposed ₦70,000 minimum wage and address pressing developmental challenges.
The Chairman of Quan Pan Local Government Area in Plateau State, Mr. Christopher Manship, made the appeal during a press briefing in Jos. He emphasized that the current allocation is insufficient, as implementing the new wage structure would leave little to no funds for critical development projects.
While commending the idea of local government autonomy, Mr. Manship praised the Plateau State Government for its hands-off approach in managing funds meant for LGAs. He highlighted the urgent needs at the grassroots level, including improved healthcare, enhanced security, access to agricultural inputs, and better road networks to facilitate the transportation of farm produce to markets.
Mr. Manship also revealed that Quan Pan LGA has concluded plans to procure tractors to support local farmers and is equipping vigilante groups to collaborate with other security agencies in safeguarding the area.
