Lamido Vows To Boycott PDP Meetings Unless Wike And Ortom Are Expelled

Former Jigawa State Governor and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has declared that he will no longer participate in any party meeting unless key figures including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom are expelled.
In an interview with journalists, Lamido, a member of both the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), accused Wike and Ortom of working against the party during the 2023 general elections and insisted they should have been expelled long ago.
“During our time, the party was supreme. It held full authority, and everyone respected it across all regions. Anyone who defied the party line was sanctioned, regardless of status,” Lamido said. “But today, people openly undermine the PDP and still retain their positions. Someone like Wike, who claims loyalty to the PDP while sabotaging it, should have been expelled by now. Why hasn’t that happened?”
Lamido also took aim at Ortom, who publicly backed Peter Obi in 2023, stating that such defiance should have automatically disqualified him from holding any party leadership role.
“That’s why I’ve said I won’t attend any PDP meeting unless Wike is expelled and Ortom is removed from the BoT,” he said. “I remain a member of the PDP, but I refuse to sit in meetings with those who worked against the party’s interests.”
He also criticized BoT member Anyanwu, alleging he had lost local support and was being imposed by another zone. “How can we discuss the future of the PDP with people like Ortom and Anyanwu? These are impostors,” he said.
Lamido described Wike as an ungrateful beneficiary of the PDP, now turning against the very party that brought him to national prominence.
“Wike is a disaster. What he has done is both un-African and un-Nigerian. He sealed off the PDP secretariat—the same party that nurtured him—simply out of personal ambition,” he said. “Even if he spent money on the party, it’s no different from a son caring for his mother. That doesn’t mean she must now take orders from him.”
He praised President Bola Tinubu for intervening and ordering the reopening of the PDP secretariat, suggesting that the president’s action revealed Wike’s lack of loyalty and credibility.
“In the end, Tinubu exposed Wike. He showed that Wike cannot be trusted, that he lacks tradition and pedigree. And I believe even Tinubu may soon abandon him.”
